MADRID (AP) -Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone says forward Jose Antonio Reyes wants to leave the club.

The 28-year-old former Arsenal player has been earmarked for a move since falling out with previous coach Gregorio Manzano.

Manzano was fired and replaced by Simeone in December following a string of bad results, including a humiliating Copa del Rey exit against third-tier club Albacete.

Despite the coaching change, Simeone says Reyes "told us he wants to leave."

Simeone says he would like to keep the winger, but the club "can't wait on any player."

Reyes has been linked with a move to Sevilla.
