Nissan Australia pledges to hire 400 workers under Jobs 1001 campaign

NISSAN Australia is the first company to throw support behind NewsLocal?s Jobs 1001 campaign, pledging to hire an extra 400 workers at dealerships in Australia in the next three years.

Defying gloomy economic news Nissan?s national training manager Garry Doyle said the company was looking to train and graduate 200 auto apprentices and 200 sales cadets.

Nissan has started the recruitment process and invited prospective employees to apply through Jobs 1001 by emailing

It plans to hire sales cadets and auto apprentices at dealerships in every state.

Prospective employees have special incentives, including attractive new car lease deals, fast-tracked apprenticeships and in-house awards.

Among Nissan outlets to sign on is award-winning Macarthur Nissan dealer-principal Greg Oakman, whose Campbelltown business is one of only two NSW franchises to sell the company?s new Super Car the GT-R.

?It?s part of Nissan?s growth plans to bring new talent into the dealerships so that we can grow together,? he said.

Despite job shedding in some parts of the industry, he said Nissan had big plans.

?Nissan is forecasting huge growth. We?re going to need more staff,? Mr Oakman said.
