If you begin seeing men?s facial hair where it wasn?t before, don?t snicker.? Instead, ask the moustache wearer what?s up. It?s Movember, a global campaign to raise awareness for men?s health.
Men?s health issues are serious:?On average men die five to six years younger than women, and more than five men die prematurely each hour from potentially preventable illnesses. But getting the word out doesn?t have to be.
Getting people talking is a primary goal of? Movember, a worldwide effort to ?change the face of men?s health,? according to the official website.
Several Premera employees have joined the campaign by shaving clean on Nov. 1, then letting their upper lip sprout hair until the end of the month.? Along the way, they are talking with colleagues, family members and neighbors to educate them about testicular and prostate cancer, and to raise funds via their page on the Movember site. Women can register as Mo Sistas, to support the Mo Bros!
Funds directly benefit programs that support prostate and testicular cancer initiatives. The movement continues to grow both facial hair and participation.
Interesting in joining the cause?? It?s not too late to:
- Register with Movember.com, get tips on discussing men?s health issues, and grow your moustache.
- Support someone you know? by donating through their Movember account.? (You can search on the site for teams and individual participants).
- Engage in conversation whenever you see a crazy piece of facial hair
- Tell us why you think men?s health issues are important. Leave your comment on this blog or our Facebook page.
